Recovery week 3

Tomorrow begins week 4 post surgery and I gotta say, I'm doing pretty well! I got the ok to start standing up a little straighter, which I am so glad about.  My lower back is still hurting, but it doesn't hurt NEARLY as bad as it used to and I'm able to stand up for just a little bit longer now.  I feel like I'm getting stronger every day. Thank you, Lord!

I had my follow up with the plastic surgeon last week and it went really well for the more part!  Everything is healing well and they even removed the two drains up at my chest.  I still have the ones on my hips, but one will be removed probably this week. The other is not even close to being ready, unfortunately.  The drains don't hurt or anything being in and up until a couple of days ago, were not really even a big deal to take care of.  A couple of days ago though, one started leaking and I started to panic. I talked to the nurse and it turns out it was just clogged and I had to strip the tubing until it cleared.  It took a while, but I finally got it. The next day, both of them got clogged. 😒  I'm definitely looking forward to not having them in anymore. I also got the go ahead to return to work and to drive after week 4 (week of September 13th) if nothing goes wrong, which I am really excited for!  Being a busy independent working mom, I am not at all used to depending on anyone. I'm the one that everyone depends on! Having so many limitations has been frustratingly necessary and I'm pretty done with it all.  People keep telling me to take advantage of the break and enjoy being waited on, but I just can't. I'm VERY grateful for all the help, don't get me wrong, but it's just not in my nature to sit and do nothing for so long.

Recovering at our new house has been great though!  It's big so we can spread out, our daughter has plenty of room to play, and we have a guest room for when my MIL and then later my dad came to help out!  Having to deal with the water heater issue right when I got home was really hard, but I still fall more in love with our house every day. We are truly blessed to have this house!! All of us have been enjoying the back yard every afternoon/evening, and I have especially been enjoying the natural light we get from all of our big windows! 💓

So, next step health-wise, will be to start on Tamoxifen in about a week and get regulated on that. Then, we are looking to have my next littler surgery the first part of December.  This will be when they will make any cosmetic changes to my breasts and it will also be when they will remove my ovaries and fallopian tubes.  Otherwise, I will be in maintenance mode.  I'll be going in every 4 months for a while for check ups, then it'll change to every 6 months. While I still have quite a ways to go, I feel like the hardest part is over now. It has been a LOONNNGGG few months waiting for this surgery and I am sooooo glad it's finally behind me.
